usually. You see a lot of posts where somebody takes an old photo and say its their great grandpa or something, and they get upvoted to hell and back. now while nobody is claiming the Tienanmen square dude is their uncle just about any old photo without famous people is fair game. there is no way you can actually prove, in most cases, that they are telling the truth.

one I just saw was in a thread on the front page where somebody asked what the most expensive thing you own is, and somebody said "my new transplanted heart" and nothing else, and the person got 2 silver and 3 gold when theres no way you can prove that happened unless something behind the scenes occured via PM or something.

it isnt hard to lie on the internet. significantly easier than in real life(and we all know how often people lie in real life).
