All you can realistically do is look to meet other people both romantically and non-romantically. This doesn't mean you'd need to give up the friendship that you already have, but it does mean that your attention and focus can be redirected. What I would be cautious of though is if he then decides that he misses the attention that you give/gave him and behaves - if not flirtatiously, then more openly which is unfair on you.
