People like to caricature him as a puppet manipulated by Cheney, and while there may be some truth to that, he nevertheless signed the Patriot Act into law, opposed pro-LGBT legislation, supported "teach the controversy" bullshit, opposed embryonic stem cell research, disregarded the scientific consensus on global warming and suppressed evidence of it, slashed taxes to benefit the wealthy... The list goes on. At some point if you are repeatedly "manipulated" into doing heinous things or supporting harmful policies, you become partially responsible for them. That Trump is as shitty as he is is a reflection of Trump, not a vindication of Bush. Yeah, republicans are evil. Not like they would cut welfare in half while signing more bailout bills for big businesses. Not like people on disability would lose their healthcare just to get it back when Trump was elected. Not like a democrat could be a racist that calls minorities who commit crimes "super criminals" and lump them in a basket with everyone they don't like. For the reference I'm independent.
