The Taliban is going to take over the country again. Afghanistan is such a fucked country.

We need to stop nation building. Afghanistan isn't our problem.

We said the same thing in the 80s after the Soviets left Afghanistan and we cut support to Afghanistan, the country ended up becoming a safe haven for Bin Laden and his ilk. We all know how that turned out on 9/11.

I understand, I just don't want the US to be in perpetual war. Bring home the troops, use the money we save for infrastructure and healthcare, and use diplomatic means in the middle east. Stop the CIA coups and all of that shit.

Then we'll be doing the same old dance again 15-20 years from now when another 9/11 style attack occurs.

Wasn't the proposed "justification" for 9/11 US involvement in the Middle East in the first place? I could swear a bunch of pundits have said over the years that if the US just got out of the region that the people there would stop hating and trying to kill us.

The shit we did during the War on Terror and decades of Cold War fuckery before that ensures that hatred is not going to go away anytime soon. We've made our bed, now we have to lie in it, burying our heads in the sand is not going to do anything.
