Either way they're gonna get hurt, but at least if you cut things off before sleeping around, you won't risk bringing some STD home and not only breaking their heart but ruining their life as well. A lot of cheating happens because Person A isn't getting something from their relationship with Person B that they want, and they think by cheating that they can get that from Person C without sacrificing the parts of their relationship with Person B that they want.
