I spent nearly half a year in a homeless shelter, and it was fucking astounding how many of them actually had minimum wage jobs but still couldn't afford to live anywhere. Not surprised that after a while, most of them quit and just accepted that they were going to be homeless for life. Why put in the effort when it doesn't amount to anything?
