Its actually one of the easier Nintendo games. It's less about the difficulty and more about the enemies being overly frustrating due to Samus' aiming controls. They're constantly flying around above you and respawning, but you can only aim straight up/down or try to jump and shoot them. Diagonal aiming would have made it much better.
