Does that mean you get paid even if you don't work? That doesn't sound smart
12,000 a year is not enough to live on, sure some can make it work but that income is pretty much a housing voucher that distributes power to the lower class which make up the majority of the people in this country. You'd have to be a sadist to oppose it imo
It's more than SSI in Michigan. I live off 850$. And that's counting the food assistance. It's not that hard if you don't have bad spending habits or are supporting addictions. I think most people just stretched the meaning of essentials when it comes to what you need or have. Not saying I couldn't use more money >_> but Im thankful something is in place to keep me from being a drain on my family or dying in the street
I live in IL, unless you're in a studio apartment $1000 will have you barely scape by. However, this allowance would encourage people to move as well to less densely populated cities and states. ---
