They don't have any past activity to go to to create themselves - it's the best day for finding Scum via reading into tone in posts. I don't think Reg is bending backwards to save Ed, his push against the eaed train has been less "no this is a bad idea" and more of a "let's look elsewhere. Also, these arguments are bad". And while some Scum are certainly hyper-aware of how people think of them, I think a lot of Scum tend to hope the suspicion goes away. As for points 1 and 2, I've talked about them already.
