Girl named Jessica used to be an assistant manager for a guy named Abdul. A few months ago, we opened positions for SMEs. Assistant manager and SMEs are identical, except you are not bound to a specific team, you are general floor support. Better position than assistant manager because if the manager fails, so would you. So Jess took the position. I was offered to take her assistant manager position for Abdul.

It's with mentioning that Abdul's team has been struggling. He's a nice, well mannered guy and his team walks all over him. Partially his fault, but he has a team full of new hires that are lazy and don't want to do anything. Since I took over, Abdul's number have improved significantly. Why? Because I'm not afraid to hold these guys accountable.

Today, it was revealed that the company is downsizing and all SMEs will be demoted to representatives. Kind of a slap in the face because the position has only been around for 3 months and some SMEs had been in management positions for 5+ years.

Fast forward to 30 minutes ago, Jess asked me to resign my position so that she can take back assistant manager... I don't know what to say. It was originally her position, yes, but Abdul's team was struggling when she was there. I have been making the team grow. I'm technically not required to give it up. She is no longer above me, especially after her recent demotion.

Also, to make this decision tougher, her and I dated for a short time last year. Her and I are good friends now.

What do you guys think?

I wouldn't ask a good friend to give up their job for me just cuz I got fucked
