Howard Dean is always my immediate counter when someone tries to suggest that Democratic candidates never get significant levels of negative bias in "mainstream media".

Or, you know, Hillary Clintons e-mails.

That's definitely more of a Fox News/right-wing outlet specific thing, at least after a while and by the time the 2016 election rolled around.

But even more than that, there was no "investigative" element to the Howard Dean situation. There was nothing that could ever develop from that story even in theory. It was just pure hacking at single sound clip that aired publicly in the first place over and over and over and over.

No, all of the mainstream outlets also way over-covered the emails

Let me put this another way. If someone within the past few years is saying Democrats never get negative coverage, "Hillary Clinton" is probably not going to be the answer that convinces them otherwise.
