Let's not forget that Rudolph apparently encourages bullying even though it's a story about not writing off those who are different. I'm honestly surprised they haven't censored the "you stay in the cave this is man work" line yet. But yeah, the characters who acted like assholes were written like that on purpose, that's the point.
