A box Cat5 wire is generally cheap and can be used for other things besides just communications. If you have attic access, a drill, a 1/2" drill bit, wire strippers, and both a flat/Phillip's screwdriver, then it shouldn't take you more than 40 minutes to rerun the wire. Just pray you don't have to run it down an exterior wall or you'll have to deal with insulation.
