The humor, the music choices, Martys growth and forcing his dad to grow. And just Martys confusion in so many moments is fantastic. The doc might still be a loon, but it is entertaining to see the progression of even his character. Plus the ending is one of the greatest open endings of all time." ~Wickle "What do you even say about Back to the Future? Every single thing about this movie is near perfection for what it is. What a good fucking movie." ~Johnbobb "An easy to love classic that has a much different vibe than the rest of the films on this list. It has a lot of comedic overtones without actually being classified as a comedy film. Doc Brown, played by Christopher Lloyd, is a great "good" mad scientist parody and how can you not love Marty McFly? I especially loved seeing the change that Marty had inflicted on his parents by the end of the film; rarely, or at least on this list, do we see much in the way of changing the past so the future is a happier place. But imagine having to be George McFly's wingman, and your success determines whether or not you live or cease to be. Scary thought, because man was that guy a dork and a creeper. But in a good way of course." ~charon "Time travel is a tricky subject, but Back to the Future tackled it in a past where this subject wasn't explored in a thousand media already so no one really dissected this one at the time. That said there's obvious plot holes so I'm not going to go over them. It's a fun time travel adventure movie if you don't think too hard about it. " ~Genny "A teen from the 1980s accidentally goes back in time thirty years where he gets to meet his young parents and casually ravage the space-time continuum. He has to find way to make sure his parents still fall in love thus ensuring that he actually exists, yet is stymied by his dad being the biggest dweeb ever and his hot mom wanting to fuck him. The characters are the big stars here, from the cool-but-not-too-cool Marty to the lovably insane Doc Brown to hilariously flirtatious Lorraine. This brilliance is what makes everything worth watching, even when the story bogs down into boring teen drama. The movie worked very well for what it was and they probably shouldn't have have gone back (to the future), but thats a tale for another project." ~Karo "This movie is just filled with charm and whimsy. Its hard imagining someone not liking it. Marty and Doc are very likable characters and a bunch of funny moments. The movie has just the right mix of elements for a successful movie." ~JONA "It's hard to even know what to say about this movie that isn't already widely-felt. I've probably seen Back to the Future a dozen times, and if I do slightly prefer the underrated Part II (which definitely would have made it into my Top 10), this is still a fun, zany '80s classic that holds up, by and large, shockingly well, and remains one of Robert Zemeckis' best movies. The cast has great chemistry, Alan Silvestri's score is one of the all-time greats of the genre, the cinematography is pretty timelessly cool. The characters have all become part of our shared cultural mythos for a good reason. The series would eventually end not with a bang, but a whimper, with the tepid Part III, but the original entry's quick wit, undeniable charm, and infinite quotability can't be overstated." ~KBM --- "It is too easy being monsters. Let us try to be human." ~Victor Frankenstein, Penny Dreadful ... Copied to Clipboard! |
