As long as you keep track of it, you can kill a lot of birds with one stone.
because after you throw the first stone, the rest of the birds scatter and fly away

that takes energy and time. when you're playing the survival game, this can be fatal
Or use said stone to kill a fish next and just get around to killing more birds as they casually stroll by later in the day.
that might not be an option in the wild
In the wild, options are in short supply. Always bring lots of spare options just in case. I usually pack a five pack for every day. They sell them super cheap at Costco.
