i dont think people are really equipped mentally to handle casual sex, even though we all think we want it

That said, there are people who are just fine with it, or who compartmentalize their romantic lives from their sexual lives. I don't know of many married gay male couples, but those I do know regularly sleep around or engage is some kind of group sex, with the caveat that they're completely honest about it. So it's like their romantic and sexual lives run parallel to one another. It's fine that the sex is meaningless, because the meaning is derived elsewhere.

idk about the dynamics in homosexual relationships. but overall i think there is this weird mental gymnastics we go through when it comes to sex. we believe it is intimate and a powerful act of love, yet simultaneously also believe it's just some casual thing you can do with people to get off.

the problem is that i think a lot of people either dont really believe one of those two or they have trouble switching between the two, because at the end of the day this is biology and you really cant fuck with that
