no surprise here. They were obviously looking to rebalance the divisions asap, they obviously love expansion team money, and the other two most likely cities (KC and QC), have some issues.
That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if they're the first league to 36, and sooner than a lot of other people expect.
No other league has 34 teams, so they'd be the first to 34. Idk where you'll be putting up 4 more teams. Canada could maybe fit two more.
I expect the next four will enter as a group, or close to it. they won't stay at 34 for the same reason they won't stay at 31 -- you can't balance it. It might be 10-20 years, but it's definitely a matter of when.
as for where... KC, QC, and Portland seem likely. The fourth could be a lot of places. I doubt Atlanta gets another shot, but you never know... Toronto (somewhere in the GTA, anyway), Indy... There are options.
Sure you could balance them; just need to get rid of the four division format they just adopted. I imagine something different would be created if they add two more teams. ---
