That sucks. Personally, it seems like a non-issue. I call people 'handsome', 'dear', 'hon' and stuff like that all the time, regardless of gender, but it's never been anything even remotely sexual. It's more that people like friendliness and compliments. That being said, I should probably be careful because I might make someone uncomfortable and I don't feel like my niceties trump their right to feel comfortable. I don't really know how these women feel and I'm not going to pretend like I do.
