Can anyone explain why Mario never boosted like this off the Galaxy games?

In 2005 there was a huge Nintendo boost.
The one who benefitted the most from it was Mario, who went from losing to Crono to unquestionably being the #4 character in the contest.
Look at how every piece of Nintendo has looked this year.
It's another huge Nintendo boost, and guess who is benefiting the most from it again?
As Ive said before, I dont think its a boost.
I think everything else just keeps dropping. These other franchises dont keep getting new great games like Nintendo and dont have quite the same nostalgia as the overall Nintendo brand is still strong.
If everything keeps dropping and Nintendo stays stable, that's basically a boost?
I guess technically not if you base things on current Link?
I mean technically yes. But I think his point is that everything tends to drop unless they keep getting great games, and only Nintendo does that.
