Conversely, it can also happen if parents are too strict.

When I was a teenager, my church got a new pastor. He had two daughters, one two years older than me, one a year younger. Both of them (especially the younger) were absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. But they were not the stereotypical "preacher's kids"; they were very well behaved, never got in any trouble. Their parents set rules and boundaries, and let the girls know what was expected of them, but didn't lord things over them. Both of them went on to college and are now married with kids, and though I can't say for sure, I'd suspect they were probably still virgins when they got married.

Then there was another couple at my church who had two daughters pretty much the same age as the pastor's. They were constantly on top of those girls like white on rice; early curfews, not allowed to date or be around boys alone, intense study sessions, etc. They both got into college on full rides, and both of them ended up pregnant before their freshman years were over.
