The vast majority of people in most religious groups are indoctrinated from birth. There are exceptions, like Anabaptists, but they're far from the rule. Damn_Underscore posted... But all of these organized religions, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, etc. are based on someone/something which they believe has authority. You don't have to be a part of a certain denomination to follow that religion. If we're talking about organized religion, you absolutely have to be part of a denomination to follow that organized religion.
