Sega's back, baby. The Dreamcast is a whole new beginning for them. Nintendo's gonna close their doors by 2002 after they sink the company by doing something even worse than the N64, and the PlayStation 2's going to be the most colossal failure in gaming history. Just look at the 3DO. Multimedia and video game consoles don't mix. Sorry, PlayStation, you were a one-hit wonder.
But does the Dreamcast have a fancy DVD drive in it? No, so i'm sure the PS2 will be able to get by just fine as the 1st console to ever have that built in.
Yeah it's kinda neat that you get a free DVD player in the PS2, but let's be honest, it's going to be kinda s***. You're gonna buy a standalone DVD player anyway, so why bother? You can even get DVD players that also have built in VCRs, so you can actually watch more than the two or three worthwhile movies available on the format. Let's face it, who here doesn't have a big collection of tapes?
But DVD players are kinda expensive and the PS2 can play both games and DVDs so its got that going for it too. ---
