So basically you're saying white people should be immune from being poked fun at in shows with primarily minority characters in spite of decades-long history of things being the other way around. It's not a double standard when history makes the pendulum swing back around, especially when we're talking about portrayals of characters on TV shows. White people can take a few stereotype jokes cracked at their expense, and I say that as a white dude. If I had a problem with it, I would have no cause to believe I was not a snowflake. "People are openly racist against whites sometimes but they deserve it" is at least a step up from "you can't be racist against white people". So progress, I guess. I mean okay, that's backhanded if meant to be some kind of complement, but the message is actually "We can accept that we're being poked fun at about accepted stereotypes that don't represent all of us because dishing that sort of thing out has kinda been our Modus Operandi for a long time now, but like... let's keep it civil." Is that more progress in your opinion or do you not get it? I'm gonna guess the former, and I'm not trying to be standoffish to you about it. I'm just being blunt because that other guy showed no perceptive ability so that's where he set the bar and I'm hoping your response can raise to a level that does you justice. No, I would say that is a perfectly acceptable position to take. Completely reasonable, and something that I would hope everyone can agree to.
