If it was my father paying, (which he insists upon otherwise he'll view it as an insult), then I don't mind. But I usually am the fastest person at the table to take out her wallet. So, when with acquaintances, I'm usually the one to pay. With close friends, we take turns because if we don't, we'd just go back and forth trying to convince the other that we should be the one to pay. Over the years I have learnt to read my companions' body language. If they seem a bit hesitant or fumble with their pocket or purse I just go for the bill directly. EDIT: On the other hand, if they insist to pay, then I'll let it go. Although it does make me feel....."weird". --- "Ladies don't start fights, but they can finish them." -Marie, Aristocats ...
