Under the current pope, sort of. I think it's still technically "not good" in canon but the pope himself has been quoted as saying "who am I to judge gay people" and basically instructed the church to stop going after them.


Which is true, he can't judge them. But can he say, "this is pleasing to the Lord"?


Technically yes. At least in Catholicism IIRC the pope is basically the voice of god and what he says becomes canon. The term is Papal Infallibility. It's one of the unique "features" of catholicism relative to other religions in that it can adapt to changing times by having the pope basically re-write what is and isn't acceptable.
