the south side of chicago used to be a shitty slum
thanks to gentrification you can now actually walk around and let your kids play outside and no one will get shot
you can make the neighborhood safe without pushing poor people out you know?
gentrification does not necessarily push people out
it makes the property and investments more valuable because the area increased in value
quit pretending you care about the poor
but if income/opportunity doesn't increase alongside property value, it will inevitably favor replacement of existing tenants that can no longer afford the property
gentrification brings more and new businesses into the area
like how Englewood in Chicago now has a Starbucks and a Whole Foods and tons more shops moving in
rather than the violent slum and food desert that was there before
Its amazing how many times youve already used this deflection in this topic alone. ---
