Neither America or Vietnam were the good guys, just like in pretty much all wars it's 2 sides of gray

It's stupid when people try to demonize either side

The view that both sides are automatically equal is just as overly simplistic and uninformed.

The issue is complicated, but that doesn't mean it can't be examined.

I didn't say it was equal but both sides were gray, it wasn't a black and white issue


History class was a long time ago so correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the south Vietnamese want our aid?

Even though my grandfather wasn't in a combat position he had his share or horrible stories. For example he got stabbed in the back by a kid trying to steal his watch and then witnessed the Vietnamese police shoot the kid in the head as he tried to run away. He claims he told the cop to give the family of the kid the watch as apparently the kid felt they needed it enough to risk getting killed (and did) over
