Did you watch the video? It explicitly states they're building a moon base so they can get to other places in the solar system easier.

Which is odd, because it seems like it would be far easier and more efficient to establish some sort of space station base as a launching off point than one on the moon. Because while gravity is certainly reduced there, you still need to use a signifcant amount of fuel to break orbit there, which wouldn't be an issue if you were launching from space.



If I were to make a wild guess they are probably planning a base larger than we currently have the technology to make into a satellite. Right now sending things into space is an exponential cost equation, even if the moon has gravity it's not the same sort of thing that requires such massive rockets to escape the pull.
