I mean the lady who wrote the books wrote this movie The problem is she's just not a very good screenwriter If anything she just lucked out with the main series, that play was fucking awful too. Looking at a review in front of me it says there's too much going on and it's still setting up the however-many-more movies they have planned. She only wrote the basic story.
