i dont ever sell any games and own hundreds but the choice should be a thing. gleefully giving up consumer choice is shortsighted and not very smart


You can keep repeating that, but no one is giving up consumer choice. Digital download has already been a common thing for a very long time, and discs haven't gone anywhere.

Yet.

Inevitably they will be relegated to the niche by the market, since making discs takes time and money and digital is getting more convenient by the second.

Heck, maybe now's the time. A market shift isn't the same that consumers "giving up choice", by the way. It's the same as the ongoing replacement of old TVs. I still keep a CRT for old games, but I don't blame consumers "giving up choice" for manufacturers not producing them as the standard anymore, because that would be really stupid for obvious reasons.
