I know a police chief who told me about a Fox Hunting protestor who shot a horse dead during a hunt. He plead guilty to the case but my friend is 97% sure he was actually aiming for the hunter and shot the horse by mistake. However intentionally killing a horse is a much less severe crime than attempted murder of a human. So the hippy just pretended to be aiming for the horse all along.
