This. But in a short term emergency the best course would be successive nuking. Blast it apart and keep blasting each fragment until theyre small enough to uust burn in the atmosphere.

May end up irradiating most of the planet but that can be dealt with somewhat. Cant really recover if an Armageddon type asteroid is 18 days away.

But the order of the universe is that asteroids destroy life and the Earth will spring forth a new dominating species.

I don't think it's morally responsible to nature to interrupt the course of life. If an asteroid is headed directly for Earth then it is simply the end of our time.

Nature gave us the ability to stop asteroids. I say that means nature wants us to survive an asteroid
