I remember a large majority of people saying we need to glass terrorists like crazy after 9/11. I don't think they meant glass all people with dark skin, they meant they wanted terrorists to get nuked the fuck off the planet. The fact that they'd want such widespread and unfocused retaliation isn't an acceptable response. You're assuming people had any idea that these were disbanded groups, most people just had this idea that there was some centralized area full of terrorist militaries that needed to be taken care of. Of course that's unrealistic and inaccurate, which is why nobody was ever nuked. Nobody was literally saying "Let's kill innocent women and children!", it's fucked up to think of throwing all of those people in jail for saying they wanted to nuke enemies that hijacked planes and flew them into the nyc skyline.
