No one really outright HATES Vivi, and as more people lose their priorities, it's entirely possible people become pissed off at the success of people whose characters they disproportionately hate, and if Vivi's still around, he's a perfect vessel for expressing that dissatisfaction. I dont hate Vivi, but I do think hes a terrible character if that counts for anything.
