| squexa 11/08/18 2:44:25 PM #7: | A random tag team would be met with so much whining and claims of Allen rigging the contest if *insert favorite character* gets stuck with Draven round 1. A rivalry rumble type could potentially work, but a major reason why RR ended up being boring is that the tag team format significantly reduces the pool of characters and the already-elite characters getting even stronger (since they have the most recognizable rivalries), so we end up with a lot of fodder blowouts. That said, it's probably necessary to do something different in between just doing characters/games loop forever. People have been floating around a best couple's contest but it'll likely be a disaster if it actually happened with shipping wars (should it be Cloud/Tifa or Cloud/Aerith or Cloud/Barret) and lots of troll pairings making it in due to nomination rallies (eg Mario/Bowser). A most iconic duo/partner contest (Mario/Luigi, Sonic/Tails, Ryu/Ken, Snake/Otacon, Banjo/Kazooie etc) would probably be the most interesting tag team, though it'll probably suffer from the same issues as rivalry rumble and will have people bickering on who the partner should be (Link/Navi or Link/Epona or Link/Zelda etc). --- congrats to BKSheikah the BYIG guru ...
