The people of the Himalayan regions (Nepal, Bhutan, Ladakh, Sikkim, Tibet) put butter in their tea. It's an acquired taste, as it's salty rather than sweet, more like a soup than what Westerners think of as tea.

Po Cha

4 cups water
2 tea bags or 2 tsp loose tea
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup milk
2 Tblsp butter

Bring the water to a boil then add the tea and let it steep for a few minutes. Remove the tea leaves then add the salt and milk. Turn off the stove and pour the tea into a blender along with the butter and blend for 2-3 minutes. Serve while it's still hot.
