Then his old viewers won't want to watch because they only like fortnite. He'd have to build up some audience again if he stopped to do something entirely different at that point.

Instead he could be doing literally any other games (including single player) before any of this happens so his entire audience isn't just fortnite players/watchers, it's more than that. Some streamers literally get stuck into a game because that is ALL their audience wants because that's all they ever did. Digging yourself a hole.
