I was making $10k/month easily while working in the wind and oil industries, it's literally how I could afford to backpack around Asia multiple times for upwards of 8 months each time (3 trips in 2 years,,, 2 months, 8 months and 6 months). I've lived in 4 different countries throughout my life (Canada, US, Thailand and now China) and I've been a legal immigrant in all of them.
