"In this world are many like me who've killed their emotions. Don't forget that."

Update time. Made a lot of progress tonight!

Before heading to the sealed gate, I explored pretty briefly around the world map. Mainly I went to Kohlingen thanks to GMUN's teasing of it! Found out more of Locke's backstory. Man another memory loss trope in the same game? That's overkill! I didn't find the story of him and Rachel all that compelling (compared to other stuff in the game), honestly, though the father's anger at Locke was pretty heavy. After the flashback scene with Rachel pushing Locke out of the way of a collapsing bridge, I tried talking more to that weird dude who's watching over her, but he just laughs and says his herbs are keeping her in a suspended state. Uh, this guy is bizarre. Maybe I come back here later with an item or something to find out more.

Afterward, I made my way to the dungeon before the sealed gate (can't remember if this had an actual name?) and hot damn, I died twice in a row right off the bad. Difficulty spike time! Buuut I found out it wasn't near as bad as I thought at first. I was using Terra's morph ability and uh, she attacks my other party members when doing so? And then the same thing was happening when I tried to use an esper with her. Weird. Not sure what I need to do to stop that from happening or if I simply can't for now. Once I found out to simply not do either of those things, this dungeon became infinitely easier. Still some pretty tough enemies in here compared to before, but now all of my party members are learning lots of magic and not just Terra has cure. Plus, Terra + Gold Hairpin and half MP usage = way more curing power anyway!

This dungeon was cool, containing some pretty neat puzzles and all those damned moving bridges. I think I maaay have missed some treasure, because there was this one switch inside a treasure chest that I could not figure out what the hell it did. Got to the end of the dungeon and all these espers came flying out and the party decides to go back. At this point though, I went back to that treasure chest switch to mess around some more and still couldn't figure out exactly what it did. But I leveled up like crazy, so I didn't feel like round 2 in the dungeon was a waste at all.

We get back to the airship, the newly released espers start attacking it, and we crash land close to Vector. We travel to Vector and uhhh, the Empire suddenly wants to be all buddy buddy with us. Yeah, this doesn't seem right. We have a feast and there's this fun little minigame where I have to talk to as many soldiers as possible. I quickly equip the sprint shoes and talk to 21, which I think is every single one. Didn't even have to use save states or rewind, aww yeah.

The banquet scene was pretty neat and definitely unnerving. Emperor Gestahl is trying to be super genuine but yeah, it definitely seems like he's up to something. They've imprisoned Kefka though and dude is pissed. Gestahl apologizes for Kefka's actions, including the poisoning of Doma, and we form an alliance...for now. As we leave, a soldier there tells me that because I talked to so many other soldiers, they removed their troops from both Doma and Figaro Castle. Not sure what this means for me, but cool!

Locke and Terra decide to team up to go to some place called Crescent Island. And hey, it's Shadow and Celes! Celes is all giving the silent treatment to Locke for doubting her earlier and thinking she was still acting as a spy for the Empire. During a scene at night, Locke gets out of bed and tries talking to Celes again, but she runs off. Later on the boat, another night scene has Terra opening up to General Leo. There was some kinda cringey dialogue about love here, but it was saved by Shadow's aforementioned quote at the top. Good job redeeming this moment, Shadow!

We make it to the continent where Crescent Island is somewhere off of and the adventure continues.
