It's a video game to everyone that isn't a snob and is aware of the definition of "video game."
It's only a video game to people who ignore context and take things literally in a deliberate attempt to placate their feelings of inferiority.
If it meets the definition for the word then why are you getting upset when people refer to them as video games?
The thing is "the definition" isn't objectively inclusive of mobile games, it's just not exclusive of them.
People know what you're talking about when you say video games.
I know everyone these days is always trying to push inclusivity and push back against elitism and everything but it honestly sometimes obnoxiously gets in the way of accuracy.
Also I'd like to point out that English dictionaries are for people who are unsure of what a word is and how it can be used. They are not a formal authority on "enforcing" language usage.
I'm still not sure how it's inaccurate to say that mobile games are video games. You're not really saying why they don't accurately fit the definition as it stands. ---
