This idea only works when they can be trusted to define "extremists" in an unbiased manner. They're not even capable of doing that with much simpler things than extremism.


Why exactly does twitter/Facebook need to be unbiased? The alt right is a far bigger threat currently and the rush to somehow balance out focused policing of their online activities with their liberal equivalents seems very counterproductive.


"Unbiased" in the sense that if two groups are equally dangerous or extreme, they should both be treated the same way. If one is currently posing a bigger danger, then being harsher on them is reasonable. But if two are equally dangerous, but they don't deal with one because "we kinda agree with them", that's where the problem lies.
