VNs like adding sexual content to these kinds of things because they can, and being called an eroge is enough to get their intended audience rolling. Once read a really shitty VN that had like one totally story irrelevant and generally all around irrelevant nudity cg with 3 lines attached to it, and it was calling itself an eroge. It's a fucking haha funny bunny joke. Of course once you get into the sub-specifications of eroges, that's where the distinction becomes a bit more valuable.
