It's really no different than eating shrimp. People all over the world eat cooked or fried bugs. Bugs are like almost 100% protein so why not cook em up and crunch on em

It is different because shrimp come from the water so the biological make-up is different as is the resulting taste/consistency. A lot of bugs have to be eaten with the shell intact. You wouldn't do the same with shrimp.

A lot of countries, particularly asian ones, will actually eat the shrimp, shell, tail, and all.

Although they'll sometimes remove the legs.
