The concept of someone being paid based solely off of the perceived value of their "skillset" is something that only ever comes up if we're talking about businesses exploiting their workers, and doesn't make sense in literally any other context.
Like, the actual customers don't give a fuck about how "skilled" you are, all they care about is the quality of your service and the value it provides to their life. It's only businesses that tell workers they need to be x amount of skilled in order to earn y amount of dollars.
