Coming home to my dad beating my mom and threatening to kill me just for existing was worse. I was never allowed to have a life outside of school, and I couldn't build one there either. Whenever I'd even just go to church I'd come home to him with a gun and an interrogation of where I was and what I was doing. My life felt like a prison until I was about 23, I was never allowed any freedom, and was basically forced to just live in my room and avoid everyone at all costs. Something I'm still struggling to work through to this day. There's no other way to describe it than just misery. Luckily things did improve over the last 12 years or so, but not by enough to ever claim I've had a happy life at all. --- Work in progress, please be patient. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
