Mac Arrowny 09/21/18 8:57:07 PM #479: | Was just annoyed they existed. Felt like a waste of time, and the sort of thing that the show didn't usually do. Anyways, finished two (2) shows today! The second was, obviously, Harukana Receive. More like Harukana R'eh'ceive, mirite? Show was okay but not anything special at all. Most of the time, it felt more like a cute girl SoL show than a sports show, though one episode (11) was actually good at the sports part, so that was nice. Probably the best aspect of the show was how everyone's always having fun and happy. Haruka's reaction after that one tournament where they lost early on was good stuff. Probably part of why I didn't like that last ep as much; every character was way too depressed. The main problem with the show was that the cast wasn't that great. Haruka's the only one I really enjoyed. The others either don't get much development or aren't very interesting (the American twins were totally blah). And again, the sports parts weren't incredible. The fanservice was mostly unobtrusive in its ever-present nature, but the parts that did focus on it were lame (like the 'incredible' swimsuit shopping sequence). Pretty meh show overall. The first show was Chio's School Road. This was better, but still not the best. It suffers from that problem shared by a lot of anime comedies: the pace is too slow. Some episodes did three stories per episode, but most did two, which was not enough. Asobi Asobase does 4 in most episodes, which works out much better for it. Chio was pretty funny sometimes, and it has the advantage of Chio being awesome/super-likable. Gamer protagonists always good times, and I love the way she nerds out. The show wasn't incredibly funny in general though. I thought about switching to the manga, and probably should've, but oh well. --- All the stars in the sky are waiting for you. ...
