Have you ever felt afraid for your safety during a call? What happened?

Have you ever hosted a ride-along, like having a civilian in your car seeing what you do during your shift? If you havent, would you want to or would you prefer not to? I ask because a family member is a civilian police employee and got to do a ride-along recently, and I wondered how officers feel doing that, like if they worry for their guests safety. Her ride was boring. They were at a domestic call for a few hours and she had to stay in the car (not that she wanted to be out in the middle of the feuding couple).

I know you probably see many of the same people / criminals over and over again. Do some of them ever contact you to report a fellow criminal or help you in any way? Are you kind of on friendly terms with anyone you arrest frequently?

Have you had to testify in court? How do you feel about having to do that?

Probably every other call you get afraid. I'm a pretty calm person, I can literally be calm and cool under intense situations which is props everyone seems to give me for. The worst one I probably had is two weeks ago

Two methheads stole a truck, then proceeded to barricade themselves in and block all the windows so you couldnt see inside

I was tasked with on foot escorting another squad car to pull up and touch front bumpers so they couldnt escape. I had to carry the heavy ass shield on my left arm and use my glock on my right. The whole timeI was expecting rounds to start being shot at me from 2 inches away and all I could see was a 2 inch little blurry slot. I had to direct the driver too because he had his head ducked down incase they started popping rounds in his car

Clearing houses is nerve racking too. Criminals talk to detectives and stuff like you see in the movies . Never done a ride along. We only do them now for applicants. I've been to court several times. Never had to testify thankfully. They usually take a deal. I've seen a lot of cases because while you wait you got other cases going on

As a cop and even a sensible human being the court system will make you sick. Repeat violent offenders get so many tries, warrant violations are given so many tries. Every crime gets talked down to to something less serious . The defense does anything to get the case dropped. I saw a guy who beat a woman near death and had to go to the icu get his case dropped because the victim didnt come to testify they will literally argue something like..oh in the report he wrote the guys name with an A but his name is spelled with an E, case then proceeds to get dropped

I just saw that this weekend
