You're probably thinking of Riptide. Dead Island 2 haven't been released yet. It got announced 4+ years ago and it's been bouncing around different developers ever since.

Riptide isn't the second Dead Island game? It picks right up where the first game left off.
I know that Rockstar, Capcom, Bethesda (and apparently Microsoft) have difficulty counting, but good lord. Three isn't that difficult a number to count.
