Kneeling isn't the intended picture of football.

Nor is standing. The intended picture of playing football is people playing football. People standing around while some song plays is not playing football.

Kneeling isn't melodramatic?

Not really. It's a reasonably subtle gesture, with a clear cause behind it. It's nowhere close to the "the mood is ruined! RUINED I say!" you're prattling on with here.

Being upset is entirely valid, the presidency is an example of you being upset.

For one thing, I don't vote for presidents. For another, having a president (or other political figure) in power that I disagree with doesn't prevent me from enjoying life. It creates a need to speak out against them doing stupid and/or evil stuff, at which point displeased sentiments become relevant and active, but effective compartmentalization means not carrying that displeasure into other aspects of my life.

You disagree with Kaepernick's statement? Cool. If it comes up in discussion, you can express your dissenting position, or you can participate in opposing campaigns when the opportunity arises. Fixating on it to such an extent that you can't enjoy the football game that follows the statement, though, accomplishes nothing, and is letting your emotions interfere with your ability to enjoy life. That's not healthy, in which case learning some compartmentalization skills is highly recommended.

It pisses off the supporters

That's their choice.

The game is worthless if the viewers don't enjoy that s***.

The game is identical regardless of how the viewers feel. The league as a whole can be impacted by changes in viewership, but having one player kneel during the anthem does not affect the game itself. Having a player refuse to play, on the other hand, can completely change the course of a game.

So your argument is people should ignore things they don't like?

Until such a time as they can do something about them, yes. Kaepernick kneeling isn't hurting anyone. He's drawing attention to a cause which nobody's going to be able to do anything about until after the game (unless they choose to skip the rest of the game in favour of doing something about it, but that's entirely their choice). Ergo, obsessing about it during the game to such an extent as to make the game unenjoyable is pointless and stupid.

Just admit it, you're upset that people don't tolerate your beliefs being forced on them.

What, beliefs like "people shouldn't be murdered by police?" I'm more upset by the mere existence of people that don't believe that than by their refusal to let people express said belief; I figure they're already awful enough people that I'm not going to be surprised by them not jumping at the chance to be less awful.

As for "forcing beliefs," though, that's hardly what's happening here. Nobody's being forced to believe anything. Being made to hear something is not being made to believe it.
