Some people still defend it as "It adds difficulty!" and "It gives you an incentive to not die!" and maybe it was fine 15 years ago, but these days we just don't have the time for that. Literally. Personally the ability to delevel is what kills it for me. There was this really old mechanic that gave you some sort of boost if you died and haven't caught back up in exp.
